Letters to Santa Paws

Dear Santa,

It's me, Moe.

I hope that this letter is not too late to get to you. I know that you are busy with your lists of wishes from all of earth's creatures. I will make this quick.

You know that this year has been difficult all over the world. People are out of work and have had to give up their furry friends because they could not care for them. I on the other paw am very lucky. I have a wonderful home and lots of food and treats. Please do not stop here this year. Give my gifts to those creatures who need it more.

Love,

Moe

Meow to you Santa,

It's me, Carmela.

Please pay extra attention to all the cats in the blogosphere. They have been very inspirational and many special cats have gone to the bridge this year. Give them all extra catnip in their stockings.

Have a great evening!

Carmela

Monday stuff

Dear Friends,

We apologize for the lack of posts. We had to keep our momma warm as she was icky-sicky all last week. She is better now and back to work for a few days before she is home with us for Santa Paws and the New Year.

We have received our secret paw gifts and will be sending ours our ASAP.

Finally Friday

Hello everyone!

We just wanted to extend our condolences to every family in the cat blogosphere who has lost a family member this year. We know how if feels and have found it hard to talk about. We still have not posted much about what Lucinda went through with her kidney disease. We will save that for another post. Now we want to offer you all some hope.

Someday, while you are still grieving, you will feel something brush against you, but there is no one around. Out of the corner of your eye, you will see the tip of a tail that vanishes. You will hear a familiar meow while you are in a place where there are no cats. If any of this happens to you, just clear your mind and understand that your cat, dog, person, is trying to let you know that it's okay to be sad, and that they are still with you.

Trust us. This happens.

Thoughts on Thursday

Hello everyone!

It's been quiet around our house. We have been doing our normal routine:

*wake up Momma at 5:00 AM for breakfast
*snuggle up in our warm bed
*leave buried treasure for Momma in the box
*trying to ignore the local news (it's hard when the scandal is on every local and national channel)
*begging for treats
*keep Daddy company during the day
*make sure that we get rested up for the nighttime games of pounce and chase
*think about our sweet Lucinda (we miss her very much)

Have a great day!

Meezer Mancat Monday

Momma, please don't leave me! Don't you want to stay home and pat my soft tummy? Don' t you want to snuggle with me and Carmela.

What's that? If you don't go to work there won't be any treats or chow?

Oh, well in that case, can I help you with your coat?

In Honor of Rememberance Day and Veteran's Day

Our Momma's daddy was drafted at the end of WWII. He was about to be shipped out overseas, when the war ended. He instead processed the men coming back. Our Daddy's daddy flew bombers over Germany. We never got to meet him, but he never forgot what he saw and relived it every day.

Two cats on Tuesday

Good morning everyone!

Moe thought I needed a bath, so here we are in the bathroom. He likes to make sure that I am nice and shiny with clean ears and other parts. I return the favor and clean up the parts that he can't reach.

Just so we are clear, Momma, we never, ever want to have a bath with water. Okay?

Momma: Yes, Carmela. But I've got shampoo just in case!

Oh no! Moe lick faster!

Meezer Monday - snuggle time

Hey everyone!

It's suddenly gotten chilly here in Chicago. We can be found in our heated bed, on our bean's bed, or on a bean's lap. Here is an old picture of all three of us on Catdaddy. He is very warm and is always happy when one of us jumps up. I, Moe have taken over Lucinda's role as shoulder percher/chest sitter. Carmela will only sit on Momma.

It's going to be freezing here tonight. I hope that Momma has good food tonight, so I can be warm from the inside out. We can't wait for the electric blanket to be put on the bed. That is the best!

Stay warm (or cool)!

Moe

P.S. Momma has her own blog! http://dgrit.blogspot.com

Finally Friday

4:30 AM

Heard from the dark: MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM! MOOOOOOOOOOM Wake up!

Heard from the bedroom: What is it Audrey? I mean Moe?

Again from the dark: Feeeeed Meeee! Feeeed Meeee Noooow!

From the bedroom: No, it's too early. Go back to sleep. Oh goody, you are on my nightstand. Don't sit there, you'll knock my....glasses off. Great. And you've woken Carmela.

Heard from Carmela: Come on Mom. I'm hungry too! Moe, keep knocking stuff off and I'll walk on Mom. She'll have to get up now!

5:00 AM - Radio alarm goes off.

Moe and Carmela (racing to the kitchen): Yay, she's up. Where's the chow!

Mom (slowly making her way to the kitchen): It's coming. You know, the least you two could do is make me coffee.

Moe: Yeah, we'll work on that. (snort)

And so the morning begins at the G house!

Thankful Thursday.

Catmomma is thankful that my kittymomma took me by the paw and showed me how to use a scratching post. See how worn it is at the top? Moe and I are going to ask Santa Paws for a taller post, so we can really stretch our muscles and keep our claws in tiptop shape.

Wordy Wednesday

Good morning everyone!

Last week, we told you about our new heated cat bed. Well, here we are lounging in it. It is our favorite spot in the whole house. We only leave it to eat, drink, and use the box! My fur has gotten softer and I am much calmer now. I used to roam around the house at night, but now I play while Momma is around and sleep at night. The mousie that I showed you a few days ago, still has it's tail. I'm working on that though.

Have a great day!

P.S. Isn't my Moe a hunk?

High and Dry

The weather is warm and sunny here in Chicago. Incredibly, on Saturday, we got over 6 inches of rain, which caused massive flooding in Chicago and Indiana The people who got flooded by the Chicago River are getting help from the city with cleaning up. We were lucky being on the third floor and just had a little seepage through a crack in the basement. Us cats, being cats, slept through it all. Momma and daddy did not leave the house except to get us food from across the street.

Here we are in our favorite spot.

Excuse us while we take a bath in the bathroom!

Have a great day everyone!

Sad and (Soggy) Sunday

We are sorry to hear about Daisy's sister Pixie going to the Rainbow Bridge. We know how it feels to have lost a part of the family and that there is a deep hole in her family's hearts right now. Rest in Peace, dear Pixie.

On the soggy side of things, Chicago has been declared a disaster area, due to heavy rains causing major flooding.

Carmela: Momma, are we going to need a life jacket and canoe? Do I need to sit on my scratching post? Will we get water in our house like I saw on TV?

Momma: No, honey, we live on the third floor. I just hope I can get to work tomorrow.

Carmela: Whew! That's good. I don't like to get wet. And I hope you don't have to work tomorrow!

Momma: I don't think I will be that lucky. Now, let's go to bed because I need to get up early. Good night.

Fabulously Female Friday

I am Carmela - Queen of all I survey.

As my first proclamation of the day, I banish the rain and dreariness from my domain. Then I order my momma to stay home with me because I miss her.

Momma: I miss you too muffin puss.

Oh well, all this makes me tired. I'm going to take my morning nap now.

Have a great week-end everybody!

Naughty and Nice

Hee, Hee! Carmela here. Last night I was very naughty. What did I do? I attacked momma's toes. Well, what did she expect when she wiggled them under the covers?

Now for the nice part. This morning I burrowed into momma's bathrobe and purred real loud. Lucinda told me before she left for the bridge that it would be good for momma and me to do that once in a while.

Thanks for stopping by!

Most of all, I want my momma to be happy.

Friday Finally!

We here at Chicats are overwhelmed by all the kind thoughts and prayers.

It is a cool and dry day here in Chicago. It is peaceful in the house. All the anxiety is gone.

Lucinda was getting weaker by the day. I did all that the doctors told me to do. The daily medicine, the fluid therapy, the eventual modified syringe feeding. I knew that a choice had to be made to help her find her peace. She ended up making the choice for us.

She is with her family beyond the Bridge.

Purrs and headbumps.

Thankful Thursday.

Thank you to all of you who read yesterday's post and especially those who commented. Lucinda was a special friend who's life was too short.

When I have the energy, I will post about her life.

In the meantime, hugs and headbumps to all of you.

Meezer Monday - meal time

A conversation.

Carmela: Momma, is it true that Lucinda can eat all the stinky goodness she wants?

Momma: Yes, dear. The special vet said that she needs to gain some weight so she can get stronger.

Moe: Momma, can I eat her leftovers? She doesn't finish it all.

Momma: No, Moe. We need to leave her food out so if she gets hungry, she won't have to wait.

Moe: But it smells so good. Can I have a taste?

Momma: Okay, only a taste. Save the rest. And, Carmela?

Carmela: Yes, Momma?

Momma: No sneaking behind my back. You had a good breakfast.

Carmela: Oh, Momma!

Lucinda (from the kitchen): Nom, nom, nom! This is good chow. I'm glad that I'm hungry all the time.

Finally Friday

Hi every furry one!

It's me, Lucinda. I am here in my little bed waiting for momma to come home from where ever she goes in the morning. I think it's called a school. I wonder what kind of fish are in this school? Anyway, I have an appointment with my special vet to see if all the meds and sub-qs are working. I'm feeling pretty good. I have been purring more lately. I haven't been talking to my mouse at all. I hope to start that again, as my mousie is looking kind of lonely.

I think I will take a nap now.

See you later!

Notes from Moe

Hey, it's me, Moe!

I want to thank all of you for visiting me and my girls. We all enjoy reading your comments.

It's a quiet day here in Chicago. The weather is cool for August, but we aren't complaining. That gives me an excuse to snuggle up to Carmela!

Lucinda is starting to get stronger. She knows that the needle pricks and tuna flavored drops are good for her. I want her around for a long time.

Have a great day everyone!

And now a special message!

Look into my eyes.

Good.

Are you ready?

You will give me many pats and treats.

For this I will give you many purrs!

Lazy weekend

We here at Chicats spent the weekend enjoying having momma home. She comes home tired and ready for kitty love. We wait at the door to give her as much as she needs. Of course, she has to feed us first!

We know that this past week has been a tough one for members of the cat bloggers. We hope that time will heal the holes in all of your hearts. Cherish the memories of those you have lost and embrace the memories that are to come.

Meow for now!

P.S. Momma went to the store and forgot to get us treats! Carmela will commence with toe-biting at midnight.

Momma, you are a pain!

Hi, it's me, Lucinda.

I wanted my mom to start blogging again. She tells us about all the fun cats, bunnies, dogs, etc. that she has been reading about.

Now, I want to explain why she is a pain in my neck. You see, my kidneys haven't been working right since last October. It seemed be under control. I have been eating my special food, but I got real sick last week. I got put into my pretty pink PTU and taken to a special doctor.

I get stuck by a needle 2 time a day for sub-q's. I am a good girl and just squirm a little. When it's over, I get a treat of baby food. Just a little as a reward. Carmella usually mooches some too! I love my mom, and I know that she wants me to be as happy and healthy as can be.

We hope that everyone has a peaceful, quiet weekend.

Meow for now!

Statue cats

Hi everyone. Moe here. Thank you to those cats who have visited. We want to hear from you!

We are a close knit family. We are protective of each other and you will frequently find at least two of us together. Here I am with my honeybun, Camela lounging by our favorite statues. We like to rub up against them and sing them a song. They haven't told us their names yet, but we will tempt them with treats to get them to talk.

That's all for now. Tomorrow, Lucinda will tell you why Catmomma is a "pain in the neck"!

Meow for now!

Inspired to blog again.

Hello to all furry and non-furry folks!

Our catmomma has been showing us all the nice and funny blogs that are written by cats (with a little help) and we wanted to start up again.

We hope that all of you find what we have to say fun and sometimes quirky!

We look forward to making new friends.

Have a great day!
